This session introduces the management system requirements that support the effective operation of an inspection body, focusing on Clause 8.1 to 8.4 of ISO/IEC 17020:2026. We will explore the general requirements of the management system, policies and responsibilities, control of documented information, and actions to address risks and opportunities.
The session will unpack how inspection bodies can establish a structured and effective management system that supports consistent operations and accountability. Particular emphasis will be placed on defining clear roles and responsibilities, ensuring leadership involvement, and maintaining control over documented information.
We will also explore how risk-based thinking is integrated into the management system, enabling inspection bodies to proactively identify and address risks and opportunities. Participants will gain practical insight into building or refining their management systems, as well as understanding the key updates from the 2012 version of the standard.
