Join us for a powerful and deeply moving leadership webinar where we explore the courageous journey of one of our own: Nerene Colbie, Scientific Services Consultant at MiChem Dynamics.
Nerene was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, just after turning 30. Through genetic testing, she learned she carries a mutation in the ATM gene, which plays a key role in cell growth and DNA repair. This mutation significantly increases the risk of cancer—and recurrence.
After successfully beating breast cancer, Nerene was in remission for over two years. But in 2022, the cancer returned—this time in her hip. She underwent surgery and treatment once again, and once again, she overcame.
In 2024, she joined MiChem Dynamics. Shortly after, doctors discovered new tumours—one in the lining of her oesophagus, and another in her brain. After more operations, treatments, and intense physical and emotional strain, she is still standing strong.
Nerene now undergoes weekly cancer treatment to manage her high risk of recurrence. But her story is not only about surviving cancer—it’s about living with its long-term impact.
In this vulnerable and inspiring conversation, Santie van Niekerk will interview Nerene about the many dimensions of her journey:
- The physical symptoms and ongoing treatment
- The emotional and mental toll of repeated loss
- The spiritual questioning and quiet courage that emerged
- The resilience it takes to keep showing up
This webinar is for anyone facing cancer, supporting someone who is, or simply wanting to understand more deeply.
Come listen. Come feel. Come learn how to support those walking this path—with love, empathy, and hope.
